Help STOP the Vista "virus" from spreading

articles-logo

Why?

Besides the fact that my friends and family and my co-worker's friends and family are all complaining about Vista...

Vista is less environmentally friendly

Vista requires a much more powerful computer than XP, (1Ghz vrs 300Mhz CPU = 3x; 512MB vrs 128MB RAM = 4x) so it uses more electricity to accomplish the same thing than on an XP machine. The extra bit of energy really adds up fast with the millions of computers out there...more CO2 emissions... yeah Vista!. If you are concerned about the environment, you should switch to a more efficient OS like Linux (I recommend Ubuntu). Linux is designed to be efficient, while Vista was "designed" to make money. It is quite common to get much better battery life on a laptop that runs a Linux OS. Just look at all the mini-notebooks that are coming with a Linux OS.(Acer, Asus, MSI, HP)

Vista's Security Problems

1. Vista's security has been shown to be a complete failure. Security Updates will not even be able to fix the security problems.
2. Vista's new UAC is "artificial" or makes you feel it is secure as opposed to actually being secure.
3. Anyone with a live CD can bypass the Vista login without the use of password ripping supercomputers!

What does this all mean in English...everyone will get more spam, identity theft will dramatically increase as well as electronic fraud. If I were a legislative authority, I would consider banning Vista as a threat to society - seriously!

Vista is slower

Benchmarking Vista SP1 and XP SP2 has shown that Vista is generally slower than XP for common every day tasks.

How?

1. Information is power. Explain to your friends and family about Vista's intentional short comings.
2. Demand XP (or better yet a Freedom Linux OS) be installed on your new computer. If enough people stop buying computers because you can't get them with XP, manufacturers will force Microsoft to start selling XP again. Consumers should have a choice. We do live in a democracy right?
